Baserock

Welcome to the Baserock open source project. Baserock aims to be a great way to build embedded systems with Linux. We are initially targeting ARM-based devices, helped immensely by the upstream work of Linaro. Project background, objectives and design thinking are outlined in the overview.

You can join the conversation at #baserock on freenode - there is a mailinglist for developers.

Baserock is a new project - documentation is incomplete and likely to change. As a result early readers will probably need a lot of background knowledge to understand the project e.g.

• deployment and use of Linux-based software
• software development for Linux
• Linux configuration management
• distributed version control, particularly git
• BSP

Ultimately our intention is to simplify the process of embedded Linux development and deployment - so clearly documentation will need to be extended to support less expert participants.
